In addition to Apple Home and Amazon Alexa, Gardena now also supports Google Home, the third of the big three smart home platforms, as well as another elementary voice assistant. The portfolio of cloud platforms is thus rounded off and, in addition to the aforementioned, also includes SMART.HOME by Hornbach, MagentaZuhause App and Home Connect Plus.

From all Gardena robotic mowers to the smart Water Control, smart Irrigation Control and smart Sensor to the smart Power Adapter, Gardena devices can also be controlled with Google Home. They can be installed verbally with the Google Assistant, or via the Google Home app with just a few clicks, as well as switched on and off. The working status or measured values of the devices can also be queried in this way. As with Alexa or Apple Home, simple routines can be created via Google Home and devices from a wide range of manufacturers can be connected with each other. Google Home is a cloud-to-cloud integration that can be used to easily map the individual, garden-specific use cases and settings of the users.

The one-time setup of the watering schedules is first done via the Gardena app, which advises the user on the best settings. Once this is done, the irrigation then literally listens to the word or follows the click in the Gardena or Google Home app.

From the cloud to the garden
A smart, automatically controlled irrigation system for the garden provides plants with water efficiently and ensures healthier plants and a richer harvest of fruit and vegetables by supplying water as needed.1 This is possible not only through pinpoint watering directly at the root with the new drip irrigation system from Gardena, but also through timed watering control and soil sensors. If a watering cycle is planned and the sensor reports that the soil is already sufficiently moist, the planned watering is suspended. For optimisation, the watering times can additionally be adjusted in the GARDENA smart app to the changing times of sunrise and sunset over the course of the season and the local weather forecast can be taken into account.

Like all smart devices from Gardena, the smart robotic lawnmower models can also be fully integrated into a digital network. This means that the robotic lawnmowers can be programmed, monitored and operated at any time and from any location. They work independently in all weather conditions and can cope with any lawn and almost any terrain. The mowing times automatically adjust to the grass growth.

Thanks to LONA technology (Localisation & Navigation), the lawn area can be mapped in the smart app and mowing activities can be set individually for the defined zones. This way, the robotic lawnmowers not only provide a well-kept green, but also space for wildflower islands in the lawn thanks to recessed mowing areas.

Mowing intervals can also be coordinated with automatic watering within the smart system. This way, the automatic garden helpers don't get in each other's way. With the interaction of automatic watering and lawn care, responsible and efficient garden maintenance is more convenient than ever.
