Why we must not let our gardens dry out

A survey by GARDENA revealed that, due to climate change, over 70 per cent of Germans already pay attention to the careful use of water as a resource when gardening. Instead of using a watering can, it is worth looking at more precise watering solutions, such as the solar-powered AquaBloom L Set, which draws water from a rain barrel or reservoir independently of the water supply. Drop by drop, the water reaches the roots of the plants, thus avoiding unnecessary evaporation.

Why we must not let our gardens dry out

Drip irrigation waters directly at the root, exactly where the plant absorbs water. Watering becomes even smarter and more precise when combined with a smart sensor. By measuring soil moisture and combining this with local weather forecasts, watering only takes place when the plants really need it. This means that water is used efficiently, not just during long periods of drought.

When summer flowers are cut back, small visual gaps are created in the bed. These are planted with early flowering plants, which provide a splash of colour and the first insect food in late winter and spring. The flower bulb planter provides support here.
