Good design does not stop at the surface. It guides, simplifies, and makes everyday tasks feel more intuitive. For GARDENA, this idea is deeply connected to how products are developed and designed: with a clear focus on people and their needs. This year, that design philosophy has once again received international recognition – GARDENA has been awarded Red Dot Design Awards for high design quality.

The Red Dot Design Award is an internationally established quality mark for excellent design, with origins dating back to 1955. Products are evaluated by an independent international expert panel on design quality. Three GARDENA products have been recognised by the jury this year: the GARDENA Portable Hose Box Move, the GARDENA Portable Hose Box MoveMatic, and the robotic lawnmower GARDENA smart SILENO sense.

Compact, portable and convenient: the GARDENA Portable Hose Boxes Move & MoveMatic

Among the award-winning products are the new GARDENA Move and MoveMatic hose boxes. With their compact, lightweight and portable design, the hose boxes are ideal for flexible watering in smaller outdoor spaces such as balconies, terraces and small gardens.

The GARDENA Move and MoveMatic also stand out for their effortless handling: once connected to the tap, the connection hose unrolls as the user walks away, while the working hose remains ready for use. Rewinding is equally comfortable – either manually with the Move, using a foldable hand crank, or fully automatically with the MoveMatic.

Martin Rauch, Director Brand Design at GARDENA, highlights the intentional design elements: "The ergonomically designed housings blend harmoniously into the GARDENA design language. They are striking without being intrusive – functional yet aesthetically refined tools for anyone who values comfort, quality, and desirable garden equipment."

Award-winning robotic mowing: the GARDENA smart SILENO sense

The new GARDENA smart SILENO sense robotic lawnmowers were also honoured by the jury. The smart SILENO sense impresses with easy installation thanks to camera-based AI navigation: it requires neither boundary wires nor additional antennas, and can be set up conveniently via the GARDENA smart App.

Equipped with integrated camera technology and satellite-based positioning data, the mower automatically detects lawn edges for precise mowing and avoids obstacles such as branches or toys, while continuing to mow over non-critical elements like leaves.

Martin Rauch explains: "The characteristic GARDENA robotic mower design, with its soft-flowing yet clearly defined form, has been deliberately further developed to express the latest technology and high quality that underpin the product. The main control elements on top of the mower are grouped together in a single interaction zone to make them clearly visible to the user. The brand-typical frame is free-floating in the rear area, serving as a comfortable carrying handle."
